Mountain biking suggestions
There are many different off-road and single track opportunities available nearby, with Red Hill just 1/8 mile from the Lodge. Here is a short list of the favorites. A complimentary mountain biking guide is available in each room for use during your stay.
Red Hill – Carbondale
6.1 miles: One of the most popular spots in Carbondale is the Red Hill Recreation Area, often referred to as Mushroom Rock. This area of BLM land includes some of the best trails in the area for riders of intermediate and advanced abilities. A well-maintained trail with beautiful singletrack and great views of Mount Sopris and the Roaring Fork Valley; Ride there yourself from the Lodge!
Hay Park Trail - Carbondale
8.8 miles: A fantastic, highly scenic ride with awesome singletrack, summer wildflowers, and spectacular fall foliage. Great one way trail with shuttle.
Prince Creek - Carbondale
15.4 miles: A nice ride that gets you on some dirt, some roads with mountain views close to town.
Porcupine Loop - Carbondale
14 miles: A great novice ride with varying terrain, short hills, and no real technical difficulty; access to other riding trails; one of the first rides to dry out in spring.
Crown Trails - Carbondale
10.7 miles: A great ride that offers spectacular views of several Colorado natural landmarks; brilliant colors in fall and wildflowers in summer; serious uphill section.
Boy Scout Trail – Glenwood Springs
19.5 miles: A good long ride on a variety of surfaces, featuring a hair-raising singletrack descent with great views to the city and Glenwood Canyon. *Local favorite*
Red Canyon Road – Glenwood Springs
6.1 miles: A well-maintained trail with beautiful singletrack and great views of Mount Sopris and the Roaring Fork Valley. |
