 Float Fishing
Many of our float trips either originate or finish on the banks of our property. It takes only minutes to go from coffee on the porch to the boat! This means you enjoy more time on the water, with little drive time. We offer full day, fly fishing float trips on the Roaring Fork River from Aspen and all the way to Rifle on the Colorado River. Your choice, over 60 miles of water!
Our guides use both dory style boats and framed rafts, often depending on the stretch of river chosen that day. Guests who float fish typically enjoy the relative ease of fly fishing from a seat without waders.

Wade Fishing
Water rushing though your feet, fish feeding on the surface 30 ft. upstream, and this new bug is the one... Wade fishing allows anglers flexibility in location and types of water they prefer. Dry fly opportunities are typically available from March to September on the middle and upper Fork, in locations sometimes not accessible by boat. All fishing on the Frying Pan is accessed by wading.
Guided trips often use our backyard for a portion of the day because
1). amenities 2). convenience and 3). the water is really, really good. It is not uncommon for guests (both guided and unguided) to fish within walking distance of the Lodge for days. The Fork is waded at nearly all water levels, +/- 365 days a year. Fishing trips on the colder days often include a bowl of chili and a warm up near the fireplace. Wade fishing on our section of river is surprisingly good in the off season from September to start of runoff (late April).

Turf & Surf
Our unique package incorporates a morning of cycle-accessed fishing and finishes off with an afternoon float that finishes in our back yard. As written about in SW Flyfishing Magazine September ’08 edition, the Rio Grande Trail offers tremendous fishing opportunities by bicycle (Turf). Upon arrival we will have boats waiting at the Catherine store access, where you’ll sit back and the fishing on this very private stretch of river (Surf).
